RLC’s J-Walkers meet weekly, on Sunday evenings, throughout the school year as well as social events during the summer months.

J-Walkers Youth is the ministry of fellowship and outreach to middle school and high school students in our congregation as well as the community. The primary function is to have a place where 5th through 12th graders can come, on a weekly basis, to nurture and impassion them in their walk with Christ. We are also learning about outreach and giving back not only to our church family but to the community at largeThe highlight of our year is our big trip to Liberty University, in Lynchburg, for Winterfest. Winterfest is a yearly event at Liberty University. The entire campus is opened up to youth from all over the country, to participate in fellowship and fun! There are dynamic and relevant Christian speakers as well as an amazing New Year’s Eve Bash Concert.

Anyone (5th grade or above) is always welcome to join us on Sunday evenings at Lorraine Carter’s home, or for any events that we have. Please contact Youth Director, Lorraine Carter at lorriebug2001@gmail.com or 540-827-7168.

We would also like to welcome any adults that have a heart for youth, to please come by and join us in the fun!

The youth ministry employs the gifts of teaching and shepherding. It is the special ability God gives to some to assume the responsibility for leadership and the spiritual care, protection, guidance and teaching of a group of believers. It is the divine enablement to nurture, care for, and guide people toward on-going spiritual maturity and becoming like Christ. People with these gifts:

  • take responsibility to nurture the whole person in their walk with God.
  • establish trust and confidence through relationships.
  • focus on changing lives by helping others understand the Bible better.
  • provide guidance and oversight while leading and protecting those within their span of influence.
