On Thursday, May 5, we celebrate the Ascension. Forty days after Jesus resurrected from the dead, as he and his disciples were on the Mount of Olives, Christ was literally taken up into heaven. (Acts 1:9-11). Angels who were present told the disciples that one day Jesus would come back down to earth just as he went up.
National Day of Prayer – Thursday, May 5 @ 12 Noon
Prayer & Worship Service
Culpeper County Courthouse Steps
A resolution to have a national day of prayer on the first Thursday in May was approved by the U.S. Congress and signed by President Harry Truman in 1952. It was intended that people from different faiths would come together to pray for the nation, business, education and social services of our country. It is powerful to know that the nation is all praying together at one time, asking God’s mercy and blessings upon the United States of America.
